West Seattle is its own, lovely village-within-a-city; it’s a place where people know one another, know the shopkeepers, and even know several generations within families. In 2020, the West Seattle Bridge was shut down as unsafe, and so, with the Puget Sound on one side, and the Duwamish River on the other, some residents of West Seattle started calling the area “The Accidental Island.” (We didn't actually have to take a boat to get here…there were still roads!) The colorwork of this cozy cowl is inspired by the span of the West Seattle Bridge, a hopeful meditation on our neighborhood, and the repairs that would bring us that much closer to our fellow Seattlites.
